Why are there people voting that JUST registered on the site and never bothered previously? That is rather transparent and could be argued as 'ballot-padding'. If you don't follow TASO rules and haven't been here before, why are you voting now?

I have personally played with everyone voting for TigerD and some voting for DDay ... and they ALL follow TASO rules at every game ... even at Camp Fearland.

A lot of things have changed in our Houston community over the last couple of months and many wayward players have been brought back into the folds of the larger Houston community united under the TASO game safety banner.

These are the every-week players and they have taken a vested interest in this election. Shouldn't they be welcomed on this site? Everyone wants a safe gaming experience when they play and the TASO rules provides for that.

I've been playing airsoft in camp fearland, PBZ noth and south and Harwood for more than 2 years now. I know most of our new registrants, and been playing with us in most of the fields following TASO rules. They comply with the regs and reqs as a legitimate airsofter and voter. For me, this is an avenue to gain more friends, get involve with the airsoft comminuty ( not just members but movers), be a part of the change for the better regardless of whoever wins. Regardless of our backgrounds, we are together for the game. It's not all about HAC, SE-TAC, ALT,etc. it's all about WE airsofters. The time has come for us to choose a leader that will lead, direct and to help us set standards.Let's focus on the election process, practice SAFETY FIRST, play together and enjoy the game.

This would suggest otherwise: http://airsoftleagueoftexas.com/page5

This election is being used. The Directors will discuss.

I'm not entirely sure you have an understanding of what this position entails... There is no leading in this, you are to take the voice of your community to the rest of the TASO, not lead a charge for something you have a preference for. To do that you must be unbiased and open to any proposition that does not compromise current safety standards within TASO. You must hear all sides of the story weather it is out in the open or via PM, and much of this work is behind the scenes. This is not an easy role to fill and it is a thankless one, if you are voting for someone because they are your friend I would say you are doing them a disservice as this is basically a second job that has no pay, much like being a staff member on another board. Vote for the person who has the experience to understand what is really going on here. This is not a popularity vote, the person who wins in both the general vote and in the director's vote becomes the villain to those who want change and don't get it, and often is not even thanked for the effort done for those who do get change.

I have voted for three regional directors now, that's not three in three years, that is three in 8 years. I have only recently come to understand the role that the director plays and it is a very minute one with little to no power. But you do take the blame for whatever shortcomings people see within TASO in your region.

Also consider the reason why many changes don't happen is because once your region votes on it the director must take it to TASO it has to be voted on by members from five other regions, then the directors must vote on it as well, much like an electoral college.

I just re-read what you said and I am wondering what standards need to be set, TASO is not the wild west of airsoft safety organizations, in fact TASO is recognized nationally for it's safety standards and scientific application of testing new airsoft technology. Most if not all of the standards are based on physics and real world testing, not by half assing a guess of what might be safe. Take a look at other state level organizations and tell me what you see? How many of them use energy tables produced by TASO, how many credit our COC and ROE for parts of their own? These are things many of you I am sure have never taken into consideration when questioning the validity of TASO, and voting for someone who promises, or implies, the will change things for they better will only lead to disappointment.

I just want to know that I've been playing airsoft in Houston since June 2006. I've been following TASO for a very long time, however I do not post or get on because I never see the need to until now.

I just want to make sure to let you know that I'm not 'ballot-padding.' I'm voting because of who I think would be a better director.

I don't see anyone calling that into question.

Um, yes, that is correct. Except that you don't follow TASO rules according to your own website. That is perfectly fine, you all can play however you want, but in all logical sense that removes you from voting in a TASO election given that you have no interest in TASO. I'm not in need of campaigning, so perhaps there is a language barrier misunderstanding going on here?
Once you meet the requirements of being a member, then you are granted the right to vote, so no, not just anyone is given the ability to vote.
